Young Adults Service

Mental Health Matters supports 16–35 year olds with personalised guidance and opportunities to shape mental health services, using an empowering, person-centred approach that values lived experience.

Young Adult Programme

Our Young Adults Service, Mental Health Matters, supports people aged 16–35 by providing personalised guidance and meaningful opportunities to influence and shape mental health services. Grounded in an empowering, person-centred approach, we value lived experience and ensure that support is relevant, responsive, and informed by the voices of those who use it.

The service is open to young adults who may be experiencing mental health challenges, social isolation, or who are seeking a safe and supportive space to connect with others. Through participation, individuals can develop practical coping strategies, build meaningful peer relationships, grow in confidence, and feel more connected to their local community.

Peer Support Groups

We offer age-specific peer support groups for those aged 16–24 and 25–35, providing welcoming and inclusive environments where participants can form positive connections. Sessions include holistic therapies and creative arts workshops that encourage self-expression, personal growth, and mutual support, while strengthening emotional resilience and promoting long-term mental wellbeing.

Inclusive Spaces

We are committed to creating accessible and inclusive spaces and welcome young adults from all backgrounds. Our activities are free, and we work proactively to reduce barriers to participation wherever possible. We actively involve young adults in shaping our peer support groups by asking them what they want and need from the sessions. Their ideas and feedback directly influence the activities, topics, and format of the groups, ensuring they feel relevant and engaging. By tailoring our groups in this way, we create flexible, responsive spaces that reflect the interests and priorities of the young adults who attend, helping them feel a sense of ownership, choice, and belonging.

Alongside this, we collaborate with local organisations across Lanarkshire to ensure young adults can access a broad network of support. By working in partnership with services, we help deliver accessible support that responds to the diverse needs of young adults across the area.
