Communities

Community means different things to different people. For most, a community should be a safe place where you feel valued and heard.

Tackling Mental Health Stigma

We can break down and tackle mental health stigma by raising awareness among individuals, groups, and communities across Lanarkshire. Open conversations and shared learning help people recognise that mental health is something we all have and that stigma only creates barriers to support and recovery.

It’s vital to build understanding of the serious harm stigma and discrimination cause β€” not only to individuals experiencing mental ill health, but also to their families, friends, and the wider community. By challenging unhelpful attitudes and promoting compassion and inclusion, we can create a culture where everyone feels valued, supported, and able to seek help without fear of judgment.
